We calculate the Little Giant submersible pump

Independent water supply - a concept quite loose. This term can mean as an ordinary pit, and a complex system of pumps, automatic and so on. In this article let's look at the main stage arrangement of the system of independent water supply - installation of Little Giant submersible pump.

The first thing the pump must be purchased. A reasonable question arises, what to choose? Well, let's say, with the manufacturers you figure it out, but what about performance? After properly selected Little Giant pumps can consume a lot of Little Giant. This situation is called redundancy characteristics.

And what if we take a more economical type of pump? Then there is the risk that the pump will not productive. In the worst case its performance will not suffice, in order to even make the water in the house.

So, choose. The pump has two characteristics: the maximum flow rate (liters per minute) and maximum head (meters).

For a start count up what pressure we need. Taco 006 pump is lowered into the borehole or well to a certain depth. In the well pump can not be lowered to the bottom closer than five feet. As well it should be set at a depth of about 10 meters from the water surface to avoid getting it in the zone of dry run.

Let us assume that the Little Giant pump we installed at a depth of 20 meters from the surface. The distance from the well to enter the house we have is 15 meters. The house we have three floors. The highest possible point of water is at a distance, say, 7 feet from the floor. It is known that 10 meters high column of water equivalent to one atmosphere of pressure. Therefore, to raise water to a height of seven meters, as well as provide proper water pressure, we take the value of pressure equal to three atmospheres, or in other words, a hundred feet of water. Now let's sum up all Sq Feet: 20 +15 +30. We had a pole at 65 meters.

To determine the flow we can use a bucket. Imagine how many buckets of water you need to pour in for a minute during a sold-out house? Let this value will be equal to three. Three buckets - that's 30 liters. The normal figure for the average cottage. So we got that flow from us, averaged, equal to 30 liters per minute or 1.8 cubic meter per hour.

Now we need to define the working point of the pump. It is usually in the range from 0,5 to 1,2 for each of the two options. In this interval, pump efficiency will be maximized. An example of a pump, which meets our criteria: a submersible pump fountain 60/72. At the pump maximum flow rate: 60 liters per minute and maximum pressure - 72 meters.
